Didim (also known as Didyma) lies on the beautiful sun-bleached Aegean coast. Legend has it that the name derives from the word "Didyma" (meaning twin) which refers to the twins Apollo and Artemis, who are believed to have been born there. Overlooking the town and sea in broken majesty is the temple to Apollo that had in a bygone era also housed a Byzantine temple before falling into disrepair and ruin.
Five minutes away by Dolmus (the local bus), is Altinkum, with its trio of superb beaches. A resort that has gained popularity during the last five years, Altinkum (the name means ‘Golden Sands’) offers visitors a turquoise blue ocean and an abundance of sun-drenched golden sands. An Aqua Park is just 10-minutes drive away. The building of a new marina was completed in 2009 and is one of the largest deep water marinas in the world. The site includes a Carrefour’s shopping centre as well as cafe, hotel and clubhouse, with duty free ferry trips to the Greek islands sailing daily, enabling people to update expiring visas.
Located between Bodrum and Kusadasi, the town offers a wide selection of stores, banks and supermarkets as well as restaurants to suit all tastes. Didim has many historical places of interest.
In the planning stages is a eighteen hole golf course near the marina so that with magnificent five star hotels and all the amenities that are expected to be in a world class tourist resort, Altinkum is set apart from all the other Aegean coast resorts as one of the places that has to be visited.
Building land and properties in the location should be considered a worthwhile future investment.
